friday fun: tip love

So not that I by any means consider myself an expert, but I have gotten lots of questions about how I do things lately, so I thought I might start randomly posting about some of them, in case there are others out there who are curious and are just too chicken to ask.  I feel like I have been blessed by amazing people all around me in this business to get to where I have gotten to, so why not pass that along?

First up: Flash.

blog1

First and foremost…I used to be scared TO DEATH of my flash.  That was all until I took Zach Arias seminar called One Light that you can check out here.  It was one of the best workshops I went to last year.  It is 100% worth every penny, if you are scared of flash all the way to working well with the flash, but wanting to get more out of it.  So, needless to say: be sure and check it out!

Next up….what do I use for flash both on camera and off?  I now have in my collection 4 of the speedlight 580EX ii.  I LOVE THEM.  I am comfortable with them.  I am not saying you need them, there are plenty of other options out there, but it is what I use.  I now love my on camera capabilities with that flash.  I also use these same flashes off camera on stands with my pocketwizards.  You need at least two of these to work one off camera flash.  Either two transceivers or one receiver and one transmitter (the older models).  You can find these at any camera shop or online…I bought all the new versions here.  And bought a couple of the older versions too on Ebay.  I love both.

I know that is an insanely vague starting point, but I wanted to get through some of the more basic questions that I have been asked recently.  I hope that might be helpful to some of you out there!
