The day was perfect.  The breeze that gently blew the beautifully handmade Chuppah, the shading of the sun through the trees and the atmosphere that all Julie and Trey’s amazing friends & family created around them could not be topped.
Julie and Trey are not Jewish.  But they love the symbolisim of the Chuppah in a wedding ceremony so they had one created by her sweet brother and draped by her beautiful mother.  It was perfect.  The florals added just the perfect touch to ground the wisking draperies that made it feel like God was breathing life into their new lives together.  Everyone was seated in a circle formation around the couple…so there was so much love being pushed into the center of the courtyard.  It was breath taking.
Julie has THE most intoxicating smile and laugh.  She could not let it all out upon seeing her Trey at the end of the isle as well as getting to walk back down it after their first kiss as husband and wife.  Nothing but joy and love.  Those are the two words that so beautifully sum up the amazing night.

Some of Julie’s memories from the night:

Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding?
A. The fact that it was a day filled with love. The people that were there celebrating with us and that you could feel how happy everyone was. It was magical.

Q. What was one quirky or crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
A. We had those 4 foot long sparklers for everyone as part of our departure of amazingness. I cannot recommend sparklers enough. They’re not that expensive and they make for AMAZING photos. One of the best decisions we made in terms of decor.

Q. What was the most special moment on your wedding day?
A. Trey and I both grabbed each other’s faces when Adrian said you may kiss the bride. We just fell into each other in that moment. It was so sweet.

(HUGE Thank you to my amazing friend:  Rusty, who gave up his night in second shooting with me!!)

And what wedding night wouldn’t be complete without a little “breakdown” of the getaway car?!?
EPIC!

DIY elements: My mom made our initials that were hanging on the back of our chairs at the reception. She and I were talking about how we could incorporate TJ more into the decor because Trey and I sign every email or letter together as ‘TJ’. She told me she remembered Trey was talking about the theme and colors for our wedding and he said, “I love the yellow and gray because it’s us. Julie is the yellow and I’m the gray.” We both fell in love with that, thus the yellow and black/gray really came to life.
Extra features you should know about: I’ll be honest, the inspiration for the cake came from a friend of mine and her wedding. I was on a frantic search for a came topper that actually looked like us. It got to the point where I was searching “multi-ethnic cake topper” on Etsy. Pretty ridiculous! Nothing resembled us, though. (Trey is Hispanic and I am White with reddish hair.). Then I came across a cake with this little statue on it of the man and woman embracing in my favorite painting “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt. (Google it). What’s even more awesome and I never really realized before was that the male is dark skinned, dark hair and the female is a fair red head! So I ordered the statue (with the inside scoop and permission to basically copy my friend’s wedding!) and had it shipped to the cake designer. Susie was great because I just asked her to create a cake based off of the design on the statue. She did just that. It looked exactly like what I wanted! And that statue sits on a bookshelf in our living room now.
Also…the Chuppah was made and wielded by Julie’s brother and all the draperies created by her mother.
