It is always a little more sweet of a day when we get to photograph the wedding day’s of long time family friends and their kids.  Allison is one of these cases.  It has been awesome to watch her grow up from a little girl into a STUNNING woman.  Evan has caught himself a beautiful bride.  (and Even is quite the catch as well)  The whole day was so sweet.  Both the bride and groom were surrounded by such great friends and family.  Both were totally cool and calm.  And I have to hand it to her…Allison totally rocked the balloons I brought along eventhough I came to find out she is deathly afraid of them.
The green and navy were a dramatic and striking backdrop to all the awesome white-goodness of The Alden Hotel.  The green apples, birds, tables named after all the awesome places they have traveled to…all great details that were so simple and so them.
A wonderful evening of dancing late into the night…and a little slip off to the lobby bar with friends after the reception was the night cap for the sweet bride and groom.

Some of Allison’s memories from the day:

Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding?

A. Besides being surrounded by every person I love and care about (it really was a incredible feeling to be in a room filled with every person who means something to you and who you have known since childhood), I was in love with the flowers. They were everything that I hoped for and more. I had the idea for the cake table apple tree and tried to draw a sketch for Lisa. She took my simple idea and made it into living art. It was beautiful.

Q. What was one quirky of crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
A. My dress almost caught on fire. Evan and I were walking to the dance floor for our first dance and we had to walk by the candle ombra. Well there wasn’t much room between the guest table and the candles. My friend Amanda had to help me carefully guide my dress around the candles. It had the potential for disaster, but thankfully nothing happened.

Q. What was the most special moment on your wedding day?
A. There were two that really stick out to me. I was really excited that morning and my nerves were really starting to kick in. When we were downstairs taking pictures and Evan and I took the picture holding hands around the corner… That moment meant so much to me. Although there were tons of people standing around, I felt like we were the only ones there. My nerves were gone and I just felt this overwhelming since of calm.

The other moment was saying our vows. As a little girl, I’m sure every woman dreamt of the day she would walk down the aisle and say those words to her prince charming. I was so lost in the moment and everything else in the room disappeared. It was a moment I will never forget. And then ring didn’t fit, which is very much us.

DIY elements: We made the table cards. Each table was named after a different place that Evan and I have been together or that means something to us. So at each place setting we had a card that told our guest why we had choosen that particular name and the story behind the name. This gave our guests an opportunity to learn a little more about us as a couple. (It was a surprisingly huge hit) My mom actually made the board for the placecards. It worked really well and helped keep the cards easily organized. I made the guest book using shutterfly, again so our guests could learn a little more about us, this time through pictures. My mom and I designed the programs.
