It was an amazingly hot day in July in Texas…but the awesome part about it all was the perfect “cool-off” right at the time of the ceremony down in the valley of the golf course where the ceremony was held.  Zach and Meagan are a beautiful couple…both inside and out.  They hold a special place in our hearts due to the fact that Zach is the brother of my sister-in-law.  (follow that one??)  So, our cute nephew Clay MIGHT be making a cameo in this post as well as my brother and sister-in-law, of course.  (can you guess which ones they all are?)
Joe and I had an amazing time getting to be around these two and all their amazing friends and family.  It was so refreshing to me to see how surrounded in love they are.  Both of them do Young Life volunteering up in Lubbock so it was such a small world seeing some old faces who came to the wedding (from my old days) as well as Glenn, who stood up and married them…and as hot as it was, he did an excellent job getting some great laughs out of everyone.
It was a perfect afternoon and evening of kids frolicking in the grass, a gently breeze, women fanning, men utilizing their hankys, ice cold water, some adorable DIY elements, some amazing cake balls and an incredible dance part-ay!  (the Hughes do not dissapoint)
Thank you Zach and Meagan for including us in on your special day.  There is nowhere else would would have rather been!

Some of Meagan & Zach’s memories from the day:

Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding?

A. There were so many favorite parts of our big day! But one our favorite parts was the moment that we were finally getting to see each others faces down the aisle. I could not stop smiling with great anticipation of meeting my groom and getting to become husband and wife. Zach also loved watching my dad and I walk down the stone steps and down the long path so that I could be given away to him.
The awesome dance party was a favorite for sure too!!!

Q. What was one quirky of crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
A. Planning an outdoor wedding 4th of July weekend was pretty risky, many thought that we were crazy and often used phrases like, “You’re wedding is going to be hotter than the 4th of July!” But the Lord answered our many prayers and the weather was absolutely perfect for us. Yes, it was warm but there was a calm breeze and nice shade that made our ceremony exactly what we had hoped for.

Q. What was the most special moment on your wedding day?
A. We think the most special moment of our wedding was leaving the the reception, looking out of the window seeing all of our best friends and family sending us off who had just celebrated our most special day with us and then looking at each other and realizing that WE DID IT! The day that we had hoped and prayed for went off without a hitch. We were on such a high and could not have been happier or more excited that we are getting to spend the rest of our lives together!

With my brother being a senior graphic design student and with experience in event planning and floral arrangements, we were able to design our monogram, save the dates, thank you notes, invitations, tags for details and the programs that we too assembled. We also did all of the floral arrangements and bouquets. We made the wishing tree where people could write us notes of encouragement and advice and hang it on the tree. We also made my wedding book and sign in pages and the moss “H” we hung in the main window. We had fun with our DIY wedding projects!
Anything you would like to add about your special day: Bridal Party accessory: antique handkerchief monogrammed with their initials in navy. We did this because my great grandmother was a china painter and her and my grandparents owned antique stores when I was growing up.
