The Spiegel’s -i do, i do- (a night of heirlooms)

back to blog

I had to make this a special post all by itself because it will prep well for the beautiful wedding I will be posting next.  There are people in your life that impact you for forever.  Zee (as we love to call her) and Garrett are two of those people.  I will get more into all the mushy-gushy on that in their wedding blog, but I had to show off the heart of our amazing Zee-Bee (as all her sweet friends like to call her) and awesome G-money (as Zee likes to call him) through some images from the night before their wedding.

From the begining of Zee’s time she knew that one day when she got married she would get married in a particular dress.  A beautifully simple dress that has more meaning than I could ever even dream up.  A dress that has so many stories to tell, one that was worn by both her mother on her wedding day AND her grandmother on her’s as well.  AMAZING!

Most girls shrug off the thought of wearing their mother’s wedding dress.  We need new…in style…I know I sure did.

But can you just imagine, for a moment, what it would be like to step out in something with so much history throughout the amazing ladies in your family before you?

Zee’s plan was to do just that.

But while trying on dresses for fun one afternoon in San Fransicso things took a slight turn and we came upon a dress that was SUPPOSED to be Zee’s wedding dress…and in turn the AMAZING dress of her mother and Grandmother got to be worn for her wedding rehearsal and dinner.  It was THE perfect way to honor those women, those marriages and give Garrett something to get excited about for tomorrow, being that the new wedding dress was a total surprise to him.

So here are some quick pictures honoring the amazing dress that fit all three women SO PERFECTLY three total generations apart.

Pictures also honoring the awesome flannel of Garrett’s late grandfather that he wore in honor of him the whole night too.

It was a night no one will forget.  A night with an heirloom dress on the bride, a meaningful flannel on the groom, with gifted heirloom rings that will be exchanged the next day, a night of many happy tears and tears remembering those who were no longer there.

A night summed up by Zee’s dad rehearsing to walk her in and saying to his daughter, COMPLETELY serious “hey, that dress looks familiar?!?  Is that like the one your mom wore?”
