A new chapter begins…

travel

back to blog

And it happens to start in the town I said I would “never move back to”.

OF COURSE.

Well…here we are in Friendswood, TX.  South of Houston and in route to Galveston Island.  I love it here.  Boy oh boy was I blinded before as to how good I had it growing up here.  This community feels like home…for the first time in a very long time.  Don’t get me wrong…we loved our last home, and our neighbors and friends, but it never really felt like we were “home”, if you know what I mean.  Then this past year hit and our little family was put to the test…and we survived, and if you remember at this blog point, I spilled some guts and let yall know that Joe and I felt a calling to Friendswood.

Since that point it has been a whirlwind.  Emotions have run high and low.

Searching for a house is so defeating.  I can walk into almost any house and start picturing our family in it…then the reality of too much effort or too much money hits and Joe has to draw me back to reality, something I have THE HARDEST time staying in.

So offers were almost made.  Hearts were broken.  Nothing seemed to be matching up…and I was getting so frustrated with God and his “thoughts” in my head of moving back, when it was not turning out to be an easy process.

Then a house was brought up, AGAIN, by my mom.  A house that had been sold some years ago, fixed up a little and tried to be sold again, but was too much $ for anyone else at the time.  A house in an awesome location, with AMAZING possibilities that had been sitting vacant, waiting on our little family to try….We’ll call it “the house” from now on.

So Joe dug…and dug…and called…and waited…looking for an owner of the property or someone to tell us if we can make someone an offer…nothing happened…and we got to the point of moving on.

On our way down to Friendswood one afternoon to put an offer on another home our Realtor called us said that another offer was already placed on that house we were going to see.  I was so pissed.

I detoured and took our little boys to dinner and just sat.  Jake asked me “mama, what are you thinking about??”  I explained…and then he went on playing.

I was sooo defeated.  I was at the point of breaking.

The NEXT day Joe got his first reply email on “the house” from the owner.

This was this past summer.

Since then we have come to know and love the owner of “the house”.

We negotiated a price.  She worked on things around the house to make the home worthy of the sale without any arguments.  To me and Joe she will always be a hero.  God used her to move us to Friendswood and own a home that we are not worthy of.

We then nervously put our old house on the market on a weekend we were going out of town.  Not really thinking anything would happen we did our best anyway to clean it all up and make it JUST perfect.  And I am so glad we did.  Without even getting pictures up on our real-estate website our house sold in 1 day.  Confirmation??  I think so.

So last week we moved in.  There has not been a day until yesterday that I didn’t have a random man in my home installing something or fixing something or ….so on….

It is a fixer-upper, but I think I would get bored with anything less.

We are home and we are in awe!

The timing of it all makes me fall to my knees.  I cannot even begin to explain the workings throughout the entire process of God’s hand and His sovereign timing.  How He has the time to car about something to silly is beyond me.  He is so good.

So if you are in Friendswood STOP BY ANYTIME!!

908 W. Castlewood Ave.

We are an open door and we are so stinking thankful for the blessing of this amazing home to our hands…we now return it to His service…and CANNOT wait to see how He asks us to serve with it!

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes…we are so honored…and I am now so stinking excited to show the home off and all the updates as well as the amazing new home studio I have here, but that is a whole other post.  Lots of good things coming…now time to get back to work…
