The next stage of this life

I head a GREAT quote.

“The days are LONG.  But the years are short”

Amen to that.  Everyone says it and everyone can agree…the time flies…and before we know it we have a kindergarten-er.  I still remember taking Jake everywhere with us.  When you’re young and only have one child life is easy in regards to still going with your flow.  So we would still do FCA huddles and even drive all the way to Omaha for the college world series with a 4 month old.  We wanted our kids to be adaptable.  Jake was a great baby.  We still had our new parent “freak-outs” but all in all he did a great job trekking along.  With your first you try so hard to make them “perfect”…or should I say you work so hard with them on everything.  Talking, walking, potty training.

Then the other kids come along.  And everything gets thrown out the window.

Jake is an AMAZING sweet first born boy.  He is a crazy hard worker. He LOVES to love those around him.  He is really easy going.  He respects others. We could not be more proud of him.

So when Kindergarten snuck up on us this year he naturally flowed right into it with excitement, nervousness but still a good amount of adaptability.  Neither Joe or I cried dropping him off.  We stood outside his class looking back in with so much pride and joy.  Our little baby is a big boy.  God is allowing us to play on the field and help Him mold our Jake into an incredible man of God.  I could not be any more honored. He is not ours.  He is God’s.  To think that it is even possible that God is even more proud of him than we are.  WOW.

I could not be any more proud.  Pride in what God is doing.  Pride in the beauty of this life.  Pride in my son.  Sound familiar?

So here we go…he is off on his own.  Gaining more independence every day.  We give him to you, oh Lord.  Please guide his steps, use him for your glory and help us not screw it all up!
