This past week Joe and I took the boys to Fredrickburg with some of our family friends for a fun 3 days full of hiking, exploring & playing.
It was epic.
We can honestly say it might have been the first ENJOYABLE get away as a family.
Don’t get me wrong, we love our boys, but spending family vacations where we are crammed into one room with three boys under 4 yrs old does not fun make in our book of life.
This year, all three boys are so mobile and follow directions, well, relatively well…so going on a mountain hike up Enchanted rock, an elevation of 1,825 feet, was totally epic in our book, and has started a domino effect of ideas and places to venture onto next. One of the great things my parents did for me growing up was be adventurous. Every summer we picked a new place on the US map and went to conquer it. No joke, with my dad, we CONQUERED IT! No site there was left unseen…no sign was left unread…no antelope was left unobserved (a small family joke there)…I LOVED the new places, sights, sounds and smells we got to absorb and the fact that I have grown up going to almost every state in the United States of America and seen what it has to offer.
So here’s to the many adventures that I pray this life takes us on. Thankful for an amazing co-pilot in Joe and three amazingly adventurous boys to see the world through for the first time or all over again.
