Some of Thomas & Ashley’s memories from the day:
Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding?
A. Our wedding was truly a “community” wedding! We had so many close family, friends, and YL kids who all pitched in to help turn a simple backyard wedding into a dream. I think my favorite part was having those people there to celebrate with us and be such a big part of our special day!
Q. What was one quirky or crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
A. Thankfully, we were sheltered from most of the craziness on the day of the wedding. But we did find out a few days after that one of our flower girls actually had an accident on the dance floor while the toasts were going on. Luckily, all the guests had their attention directed away from the dance floor at the time, so some of my awesome bridesmaids whisked her away and did a quick clean up before anyone had a chance to notice. And they decided to wait until a few days after the wedding to share that bit of excitement with us!
Q. What was the most special moment on your wedding day?
A. There were so many special moments, it’s hard to choose just one! One thing that really stands out to me though was reading the letter that Thomas wrote me and then praying with him (around the corner) beforehand. That was really special and helped to calm my nerves a lot too!
Q. Where will you be as a couple in five years? Hopes, dreams, kids, etc.?
A. Well, as we’ve learned from our latest surprise (expected to arrive mid April), we can make plans, but the Lord’s purposes will prevail! We both love kids and are excited to start a family, even if a little sooner than expected. So I would say I definitely see us with a few kids (the number depends on which one of us you ask. We are also both very passionate about doing ministry together, since that’s how our relationship began! We would love to be part of a church planting team or somehow involved with the youth or college ministry in our church, possibly even as full or part time positions. So I could see that being a possibility for our future, but we are both open and excited to see what other surprises the Lord has for us along the way!
Q. What do you look forward to most about being married?
A. I’m most excited about sharing a life and home together. There’s just something special about “coming home” to each other and also having a home together that we can invite others into.
