Alexa and Casey knew they wanted to have their engagement session at Cheekwood Gardens in Nashville, and I was happy to accommodate!  I flew out and had dinner with them the night before, and then we met up for their Cheekwood engagement session the next day.  The stunning property was the perfect location for gorgeous photos!

 Cheekwood Engagement Session

Even though Alexa and Casey were working with the fantastic Belle Events to plan their wedding, which would take place at the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, they call Nashville home.  Naturally they wanted this piece of their lives documented, so doing their engagement session at Cheekwood Gardens was the perfect choice!

We started in front of the stately house and made our way around the whole property. The beautiful trees, terrace overlooking the mountains, stunning gardens, and pond with flamingos offered so many backdrop options!

Changing Outfits During Photos

Part of my passion is making people feel so comfortable in front of the camera.  When clients hire me, I love to provide a guide with tips about how how to choose outfits and dress for your engagement session!  The first and most important tip is always to wear things that feel like “you” and that you’re confident in.

The next thing I tell people is that changing outfits during your engagement session is a great idea!  Alexa and Casey, like most people, chose one dressy style and another style that was more casual.  Both of them turned out beautifully and were complemented so well by the stunning Cheekwood backdrops!

I had so much fun getting to know Alexa and Casey and spending time with them in their hometown of Nashville.  It is always such a wonderful experience to be able to connect with our sweet couples prior to their wedding day, so that everyone is comfortable with each other.  I absolutely can’t wait for their wedding in Austin in April!

Traveling to meet my clients for their engagement sessions is one of my favorite things to do!  It allows me to see them in their “everyday” lives and really understand them as a couple.  If you’re ready to talk about your engagement session and wedding photography, head to my contact page to get in touch!
