Molly & Isaac
Part Three: Formals and the Reception
We’ve never done an entire blog series on a single wedding before, but there was simply no other way to do this day justice! Make sure to read parts One and Two as well, to see the full scope of this amazing day.
Not only was this sweet couple and family such a JOY to work with, but they also hosted an absolutely incredible party that was so much fun to document!
They worked with the lovely, talented team at Engaged Events in Dallas to create the day of their dreams at Molly’s childhood home. No detail was overlooked, and the guest experience was unparalleled!
Read on for all of Molly’s insight into their fairytale wedding.
Favorite Part of the Day
There was no shortage of amazing moments to choose from, but when we asked her what her favorite part of the day was, Molly said she “loved every moment of it. Probably seeing Isaac getting to read our vows, and then just being able to party on the dance floor all night with our people – it was the best party ever.”
Special Touches
We absolutely loved that Molly’s dad had his own outfit changes! Two of them, to be exact. He’s shown here changing out of his dark coat, and if you look closely at the reception photos, you’ll find him sporting a blue one!
Theme & Decor Inspiration
Molly took inspiration for the invitations and reception decor from her love of wallpaper and china soirée, coupled with her fondness for de Gournay designs. As far as color selection, she said, “Isaac and I love the color blue it’s our favorite color. We often show up wearing the same thing and it’s normally some sort of blue!”
The couple wanted their guests to feel like every detail was curated for them.
The goal was to “transport them to the most amazing garden dinner party they had ever been to!” This led to choosing “a longer dinner and a wine paring with our meal in order to cultivate conversation and intentional community between our guests.”
Special Touches
No stone was left unturned when it came to curating the perfect guest experience!
In addition to the circular ceremony seating, multi-course dinner, and signature drinks, Molly and Isaac included touches like handwritten notes that could be tossed into a wishing well fountain (“message in a bottle”), flip flops for comfortable dancing, and a guest sketcher to create custom art their loved ones could take home and frame to remember the evening by, in addition to the live event painter.
Biggest Surprise of the Day
“The biggest surprise of the day was my dad singing “You Will Always Be My Baby” with Emerald City. He changed some of the words and completely surprised everyone! My mom and my wedding planner didn’t know anything about it! It was amazing I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.”
Best Advice For Other Couples Getting Married
When we asked her what she would tell other soon-to-be-married couples, based on her own wedding day experience, Molly said,”Enjoy the day! Make sure y’all do what is important to you. Whether that is sitting down and enjoying the dinner or skipping it and making sure you talk to your guests. Do what is important to you and don’t let other opinions dictate your plan! I loved the circle aisle and the photos, and being able to see so many more guests made our ceremony unique and intimate. I would recommend that to everyone!”
Kind Words for KHP
“Kelly, you just make us feel like we are warm and at home. So comfortable and completely ourselves! I loved that y’all captured great photos of our guests! It was so fun to look back on them and be like “oh my gosh I love their dress”, or “that was such a sweet moment between them”. It allows us to be with them again and experience the feels they had that night even if we weren’t with them during that moment. That was really special.”
