Rachel & Trey
This amazing bride and groom worked with Julie Myers at Keely Thorne Events to expertly design a warm, classy wedding at River Oaks Country Club. The end result did NOT disappoint, and Rachel and Trey had a magical evening with the most important people in their lives!

The Dress
Rachel found her Romona Keveza gown at Warren Barron Bridal in Dallas, and then customized it to fit her exact vision.
She told us, “My gown was made up of three different parts – the gown, an overskirt, and a lace bolero. This gave me the ability to achieve different looks without having to change! You only get to wear a wedding dress once, so I wanted to keep it on as long as possible. My mom and I hand placed the lace applique on the bodice of my gown and had the bolero made so we could have the lace lay exactly as we envisioned it. My favorite addition to the gown were a few pieces of lace from my mom’s wedding dress sewn underneath the skirt.”
Special Touches
Some of Rachel’s favorite details from the day were the silver trays and bud vases strategically places throughout the main dining room reception space. She felt these were some of the elements that most helped achieve the lounge feel they were looking for.
She also enjoyed finding out what song Trey picked for their first dance (Tupelo Honey), and the private meal their planner made sure they had in order to give them a few moments alone with each other during the hustle and bustle of the day.
When it came to the cake, they were divided on what flavor to go with, so decided to compromise! “He loves vanilla and I love chocolate. this led us to decide on doing alternating layers of vanilla and chocolate. We wanted a fresh but traditional looking wedding cake. We felt that adding fresh flowers while keeping the cake itself plain white gave us exactly that!”
The couples’ best advice to other couples getting married soon? ” Take time to stop and soak in all of the people who are there just for you!”
Kind Words for KHP
Rachel and Trey were so sweet to leave us with these amazing thoughts:
“Kelly made me feel extremely comfortable when being photographed. My husband and I don’t particularly love having our photo taken so this was one of the most important qualities we kept in mind when picking our photographer. Kelly has shot a few of my friends’ weddings and her personality and ability to make everyone feel comfortable and actually have fun while taking the photos stood out to me. Once we did our engagement shoot, I knew I made the right choice picking Kelly. We had the best time with her! Her smile and laughter is contagious. Not to mention her photos turn out absolutely beautiful and unique. We also loved the use of film throughout the sessions.”
We always tell our clients that they will spend more time with us on their wedding day than they will with their future spouse, so it’s important to choose a photographer wisely! I am beyond thankful when sweet clients are confident that they’ve made the right decision hiring us, and would be honored to create this same experience for you. Start here to learn more.
