8 years and counting…

travel

back to blog

It’s been 8 years.  EIGHT…and I can honestly say that we are just now starting to really know what fun with eachother really is.

Not just flirting and being silly, but truly having fun and joy with eachother.

It is an effort.  It is work.  It is scheduled.  It is hardly spontaneous.  It is comfortable.  It is marriage.

Learning what it means to have fun again…to enjoy laughing again.  So stop fighting so much and just let it go.

(yes, you can thank me later for getting Frozen stuck in your head today.)

Looking back on the pictures of our wedding day always brings something new to the table.  Each year it is totally different.  This year I remember the FUN that we had.  The AMAZING friends and family that surrounded us.

The epic moments of laughter.  The rumor of me being stuck in the elevator.  The a/c going out in the hotel earlier that day.  The HUGE hole in the cake that my dad tried his hardest to cover up with icing.  The EPIC get away car “the shagging wagon” that our amazing friends made for us.

The AMAZING honeymoon that Joe and I got to travel on.  Greece.  A trip we will NEVER forget and a trip that no trip can compare to.  BUT a trip that I cannot wait to top again with what we can do in our future.

During that epic trip 8 years ago, Joe and I sat at the top of the Caldera overlooking the cliffs of Santorini and made goals for us.  A tradition we still like to keep up.  We wished for and prayed over things that God has BLOWN out of the water.  Never could I have guessed we would be where our family is today…physically, emotionally, financially, etc…I am so thankful for the man that God has molded Joe into in the 8 years we have been wed, a man of wisdom and confidence, a true leader in every sense of the word.   I am so thankful for the hard times, the beautiful times, the times that are so uniquely ours.

So…in looking and thinking about the 8 years that have flown by…I no longer really look back at the photos and look for the beauty in the day…but look back on our photos and see the start of all that is special…all that is molding…all that is the foundation of our family and the legacy that we now start to leave behind.

Look at those young bucks….
