Some of Lauren & Marcel’s memories from the day:
Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding?
A. Dancing the night away together to all our favorite songs with our nearest and dearest family and friends. Almost 90% of our wedding was from outside Houston – with most guests coming from Canada. Knowing that they cared enough about us to travel long distances to share our day is something we both cherish about that day.
Q. What was one quirky or crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
A. The surprise musical interlude from the groom and a few of his friends performed during the reception.
Q. What was the most special moment on your wedding day?
A. Our ceremony.
The entire thing was written by us with our officiant who has known the groom
for a long time. Every word was very personal.
Also during the ceremony the sun peaked through the trees casting the most
beautiful light on the ceremony as we listened to a family friend do a reading. It was a serene moment during a day filled with a flurry of activity.
Q. Did you do anything yourself?
A. Yes, lots of little details, but I also relied on vendors to help bring the
vision to fruition. I would generally describe our roles in planning the wedding this way:
Bride: Chief Creative Officer
Groom: Chief Financial Officer
Family & Wedding Party: Advisory Committee
Q. What do you look forward to most about being married?
A. Partnership through all things – good, bad, long, short, easy, and not. This
quote resonates with us both:
“Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not
follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend. — Albert Camus”
Q. Where will you be as a couple in five years?
A. Happy
Laughing
Working together
Achieving goals
Enjoying time with family and friends
