Meghan & Matt
Meghan and Matt had a dreamy Southern California wedding at Hotel Del Coronado. Inspired by the historical elegance of Hotel Del Coronado, and the California coast, their venue and the destination were their guides for the look and feel of their beach wedding day. They allowed the classic charm of the The Del to shine through, and their wedding details incorporated colors with a California coastal aesthetic. Meghan is a wedding planner for Belle Events, so she brought her vision to life seamlessly!
Hotel Del Coronado Wedding
Hotel Del Coronado is an iconic beachfront hotel outside of San Diego, CA, known for its unique Victorian architecture and deep history. When Meghan and Matt first stepped into the elegant lobby of the Hotel Del Coronado they knew they were somewhere special and had to share their love for The Del with their loved ones.
On their wedding day, Meghan and Matt shared a “first touch” between a curtain and exchanged letters. This private moment together turned out to be one of their favorite moments from their wedding day. Meghan said, “This private moment together was such a sweet start to the day and provided a wonderful opportunity to focus on each other and center ourselves before the ceremony.”
They had a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony at a nearby church. After the ceremony we did portraits at the church and then back at The Del. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed different hors d’oeuvres and got to witness a beautiful San Diego sunset with views of the beach.
Their reception was held in one of the hotel’s original dining rooms that has a domed wooden ceiling and glowing crown chandeliers. To balance the dark wood of the ballroom, white florals decorated the tables with linens accented with light blues and greens.
Wedding Details for Music Lovers & Advice
Music is a big part of Meghan and Matt’s lives, so they incorporated music related details throughout their wedding day! They’re both professional musicians and actually met through the opera Don Giovanni. They spent a lot of time curating their ceremony music and planning their first dance to the song “Only Us” from the movie Dear Evan Hansen. As a tribute to their musical background, they actually recorded themselves singing the track and played it for their first dance. The best surprise on the wedding day was when guests realized it was actually Meghan and Matt singing the song they were performing their choreographed first dance to!
When it comes to wedding advice for other couples, Meghan and Matt said, “Surround yourself with the people you love, and everything else will fall into place.” I couldn’t agree more! Meghan and Matt created an incredible destination wedding experience at Hotel Del Coronado for their family and friends, and we are so thankful to have been a part of it!
