Vivian & Jack
Vivian and Jack’s elegant garden party wedding in Houston was a magical May wedding day! The home of beloved family member served as the venue for their backyard wedding celebration with a secret garden feel.
Garden Party Wedding Day
The day of the wedding started with Vivian and Jack getting ready separately and reading the letters they wrote one another. Before her first look with Jack, Vivian and her Dad shared a sweet first look inside. Next, came the first look between Vivian and Jack. This ended up being one of their favorite moments of the day! For the couple, the first look helped them both feel calm and grounded before their ceremony! Plus, we were able to do their portraits throughout the beautiful grounds before guests started arriving for the ceremony.
White Wedding Ceremony to a Colorful Reception
Their wedding colors and decor were part of an intentional color transition from an all-white ceremony to a colorful reception. Their wedding ceremony was held in the bride’s grandmother’s backyard and Vivian wanted to highlight the natural beauty of the area. As guests entered the yard, they grabbed a coin, wished the couple good wishes and tossed it into the fountain that led to the ceremony seating. All white flowers lined the aisle and decorated the white gazebo that Vivian and Jack stood under.
For cocktail hour, pastel shades of orange and purple were the next featured colors. Guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn and mingled among the lounge areas and cocktail tables. The reception was even brighter with vibrant colors of orange, purple, and pink used in the flowers and decor. The reception was held in a clear tent which still allowed the beauty of the property to be showcased and ensured that rain or shine they could celebrate the night away!
Wedding Planning advice from the bride:
I love asking the couple what their wedding planning advice for other couples is and Vivian’s advice is too good not to share!
“Wedding planning stress comes with the territory. It’s a lot of pressure to plan the best day of your life, but the truth is that the magic of the day really has nothing to do with the flowers or the decor (although it doesn’t hurt for everything to look beautiful). The magic comes from joining your life with your best friend and soulmate. Walking down the aisle to Jack, everything and everyone else may as well have been invisible. The magic of your wedding can’t be planned, it just happens. So try to remember that when inevitable drama arises.”
The KHP Wedding Experience
Vivian and Jack had the kindest words to share about their experience working with me:
“Kelly has an amazing, humble, and calm personality. But to top it off, her photos are the most gorgeous. She catches moments that are mind-blowing. She and her team have a way of taking photos of pure love. During my bridals, she made me feel so confident and beautiful in front of a camera which is not my comfort zone. She’s just so cool!”
