Behind the Design: Houston Oaks Country Club Wedding

The inspiration for this stunning wedding came easy for the beautiful bride, Hannah.  She simply chose colors that she’s always loved: blue, green, and pops of yellow.  And then she added in her favorite flowers: white orchids, white tulips, hydrangeas, and ranunculus for the yellow.

She told us that “white orchids are special to me and Gram (my grandmother) so they were used for her wristlet and my bouquet. I prefer a waxy flower and love the simplicity of a white tulip so used only white tulips for the bridesmaids bouquets.  This also worked out nicely since everyone had different dresses, the simple and beautiful white tulips brought it all together.”

Kelley Lockridge of Belle Events did an exceptional job executing Hannah & Clay’s vision for the day!

Hannah was an absolute vision in her asymmetrical neckline gown by Romona Keveza, which her maid of honor actually pulled from the rack for her to try on at Casa de Novia bridal salon.  Her veil was the same lace as the dress, but she had more than 2 feet added to it so it would extend past the train of her dress.

Favorite Details and Special Moments

The beautiful chapel surrounded by oak trees is what led the couple to want a Houston Oaks Country Club wedding in the first place, and that because of that, Hannah said some of her favorite details were the ceremony florals.  She loved the flowers in the small window of the chapel and also the wreath and ribbon on the sheep outside of the chapel!

She was thrilled with the incorporation of their puppy Penelope into the bar signs, and mentioned that Clay’s mom also did a really fun, amazing job incorporating her into the rehearsal dinner with napkins and cocktail stirrers!

The reception space was filled with more breathtaking blue and green florals, and Hannah & Clay treated their guests to a fun night of dancing complete with light up Hawaiian leis, and “The Schnakes are Hooked!” foam fingers.

At the end of the day, Hannah & Clay’s advice for soon-to-be-married couples is this: “Let go of the planning mindset when wedding day comes and enjoy what the day is about — getting married and having fun with the people who came to celebrate with you!”
