Hannah’s Bridal Photoshoot
Hannah loved the large oak trees and beautiful chapel at Houston Oaks Country Club. Those things are what ultimately led her and then-fiancé, Clay, to choose it as their wedding venue, so it’s no surprise that she wanted to do her bridal photoshoot there as well!
She was an absolutely stunning bride, and we adored her Romona Keveza gown with the asymmetrical neckline! Her veil was customized with over 2 feet of the same lace added to it that was on the dress.
Why Do a Bridal Photoshoot?
Largely a Southern tradition, and know throughout the south as “bridal portraits”, or even just “bridals”, this is a special session with only the bride and she is completely ready in her wedding-day ensemble. Oftentimes, parents will frame and hang large prints or canvases of the bridal portrait in their home, and before that it may be displayed somewhere on the wedding day for guests to see.
These sessions are never required, but we do love to do them and even we encourage them, for a few reasons!
First, it’s a great way for the bride and photographer to get to know each other. We always say that we’ll be with you more on your wedding day than you’ll even be with your future spouse, so we love taking every opportunity to get to know you and get comfortable with each other, so we can make you as comfortable as possible on your big day!
The bridal photoshoot is also a fantastic “trial run”. Most brides choose to have their hair and makeup trials on this day, and then they also get to wear and move around in their dress, veil, and shoes. Again, it’s a great way to take some of the nerves out of the wedding day since it won’t be the first time you’re putting everything on and wondering how it will look.
And honestly, bridals are just plain fun! Who doesn’t love to feel beautiful?! And getting to wear your wedding dress and feel like a princess in it more than once is priceless!
We usually book bridals as part of a wedding photography package, but we can absolutely do them a la carte as well. Let us know what questions you have about setting up your session!
