Erica & Colton
Erica and Colton worked with the wonderful Spell Events to create this exquisite blue-and-white wedding at The Corinthian! They perfectly combined drama (just LOOK at that red staircase!), romantic elements, and FUN and hosted a celebration that neither they nor their guests will soon forget.
The Corinthian: The Design
When we asked about their inspiration for the colors and theme of their wedding, Erica said, “Colton and I have a shared appreciation for timeless and elegant styles, which inspired our wedding theme. We aimed for a classic look with white floral arrangements accented by a touch of color. Believing that marriage symbolizes unity, we incorporated this concept into most wedding details to reflect both of us rather than just one. If we chose pink it would solely represent me, so instead we opted for light blue, which is one of our favorite colors, creating a harmonious blend that complemented the spring floral theme beautifully.”
Special Touches
The couple had so many special touches they incorporated, that they forgot about many of them and were surprised multiple times throughout the day!
Some of the magical details “included the ice bar with ice luge, cold sparks for our first and last dance, confetti for the band’s last song, CO2 cryo LED guns at the after party, light up dance floor at the after party, milk and cookies at send off, drink toppers for the espresso martinis, “What-a-Wedding” stickers on the What-a-Burger late night snacks, the life size Storm Trooper groom’s cake… I could go on.
Both the bride and groom’s family traveled so far to come celebrate us, so we wanted to acknowledge how thankful we were and with these details tried to make everyone’s time in Houston as amazing as possible. Some of our favorite details are all the ways we put a unique twist on things, for example:
To guide the guests from the second floor cocktail hour to the main floor dinner we did a second line. Originally we were going to have a standard announcement to instruct guests to move to their appropriate seats for dinner, but we wanted to do things in a way that is not done at every wedding. The loud brass and horns of the second line paid homage to the bride’s mother’s New Orleans roots as the guests paraded behind to the dinner.
Instead of a regular bar we had a custom ice bar brought in. This massive 8 foot long bar featured floral frozen in the ice, our monogram engraved on the front, and a shot luge. This turned into the social hub at the wedding with guests gathered around imbibing in libations.
The fire truck as the getaway car from Bayou Firetruck was another one of our favorite details. It was initially suggested that we rent a Rolls Royce as the getaway car. That is a great, classy, and timeless option, however, it wasn’t “us”. Instead we came up with the idea of a fire truck as a getaway vehicle. Colton loves fire trucks – I’m not sure he could articulate to you exactly why, but it may be related to his late brother who was a firefighter or perhaps he just likes big machines like all men do.”
The Dress
Erica told us she knew she wanted a grand dress that would match the grandeur of The Corinthian, and had always dreamed of a dress with an extremely long train and an even longer veil.
So when she found this stunning Anne Barge gown at Ivory Bridal Atelier, she loved it but knew it wasn’t quite perfect. Not to be deterred though, she worked with the bridal salon to extend the train and make it the dress of her dreams, and then chose a pure silk veil and Christian Louboutin shoes to complete her stunning look. (The iconic red bottom shoes were actually Colton’s idea first, and after he ordered his, Erica ordered hers just in the knick of time for wedding day!).
Her second look – a fun, sparkly party dress – was customized as well. Originally with a long skirt, Erica worked with Laura’s Couture and Alterations to keep the outer layer long but add a mini dress underneath, which allowed her to dance all through the night with friends and family!
Kind Words for KHP
“I wish we could have known just how amazing Kelly was and how she thinks of every single detail. We only chose Kelly for the day of the wedding, but after our engagement photos we couldn’t believe how incredible the photos were, we would have hired her for the entire weekend had we known. (Thursday- Rodeo and Friday-Rehearsal) She was that amazing, you do not find many photographers that are equally amazing, but also fun and personable. I wish we could have found more reasons to take photos with Kelly because every time we saw her, she was an absolute blast.
Reflecting on the images expertly captured by Kelly, we are overwhelmed with love and appreciation. The photos exude a vogue-like quality, portraying a sense of classic elegance. Kelly’s strategic placement of everyone in the photos (instead of the typical bridesmaids on one side and groomsmen on the other) and her meticulous attention to detail truly shines through, creating timeless and beautiful memories for us to cherish. ”
We are so grateful for Erica and Colton’s sweet words, and absolutely LOVED working with both of them and their families!
If this sounds like the wedding photography experience you want, too, we would love to hear from you!
