Stunning Horseshoe Bay Wedding in Shades of Pink

Caroline & Jake

These two hosted a picture-perfect springtime lakeside wedding at Horseshoe Bay Resort, and it was truly the most magical weekend!

Barbara Shorts of Verve Events in Austin came alongside Caroline and Jake to plan every detail and bring their dreams to life.

The Design and The Day: Horseshoe Bay

Caroline’s inspiration was, simply put, PINK.  Originally the design was centered around the soft blush pink seen in the invitation suite below, but she and Jake wanted something that hadn’t been seen a million times before on Instagram or Pinterest.  So they combined a cherry blossom theme – with its airy, delicate, light pink flowers – and more shades of pink, and created an experience for their guests where the hues got deeper and brighter the closer they got to the lake!  Ending with the hot pink ‘Tini Time bar.

She said that “GRO and Verve absolutely NAILED our vision and took it to a whole new dimension” and it was unlike anything she’d ever seen!

As far as wedding day nerves, the bride admits that for a Type A person, she wasn’t all that nervous except for a few butterflies right before walking down the aisle.  She loved her vendor team and knew that having everyone they loved in the same place would never happen again, so relaxed and enjoyed the day.

She & Jake chose to have a first look, and their planner also made sure they had a short, private meal together, giving them a few minutes with just each other and allowing them to refuel.

The Dress

When we asked how she chose her gown, Caroline said, “I actually sent my mom the gown I chose prior to even being engaged. After trying on TONS of gowns, I finally tried on the one I had previously sent her, and I was sold! It was exactly what I had pictured, and it captured my personality in the most perfect way. It was a refined and sophisticated silhouette, yet still fun with the floral appliques and beading. I thought it was perfect for a spring wedding.

The dress I changed into was actually worn by my grandmother, my aunt, and my mom. It is about 75 years old. I had the dress shortened, and added some lace and beading to the bottom, but other than that, the rest of the dress remained untouched. We used some of the fabric from the train of the original dress as a pocket on the back of our ring bearer pillow that we hope to pass down to our children.”

As for the groom’s attire, Caroline gifted Jake new boots from Republic Boot Co. that he wore on wedding day, and also gave him her late father’s cuff links, which was a special way to remember and keep him with them on wedding day.

Special Touches

Caroline and Jake told us they “wanted our guests to have an experience every where they looked, so we turned some of the food stations into “experiences” rather than just a buffet line. We had Jake’s BBQ complete with a photo wall and a really fun food display. Our Asian-inspired take-out station featured pink and white striped takeout boxes and little sushi boats served over ice. Some of my other favorite details was the martini bar that featured 3 of our favorite martinis and the brandy freezes served in LA Dodger baseball hats in lieu of a groom’s cake. Jake LOVES the Dodgers and prefers ice cream over cake!”

Kind Words for KHP

We loved these sweet clients and are so thankful for their thoughtful words:

“Kelly made both of us feel beyond comfortable from Day 1. It truly felt like we were hanging out with our long-lost best friend from the very beginning, and now both Jake and I consider her as a friend. She makes everything so fun and casual, even during the more tense and stressful times that inevitably occur throughout the process. The energy Kelly brings to each and every shoot is unmatched and so contagious. I am already scheming how I can get her to Midland after we have a baby (one day, not soon lol) to shoot our family!!!! Jake and I both love being around her.”

Our goal is always to turn clients into dear friends during the process of capturing the most magical day of their lives, and we would love to do the same for you!  Ready?  Let’s talk!
