Have you ever seen the beauty that God creates out of Colorado in the fall? It is a sight to be seen. Something one cannot deny.
The fall day that Katie and Taylor got married enveloped them and their love. The gold leaves of the trees fell all around them and bathed them in beauty. It was one of the most spectacular sights I have ever seen.
My beautiful cousin marrying the man of her dreams amongst her closest friends and family.
The whole day was perfect. Katie and her mom got to spend some beautiful time enjoying every moment. They first look was 100% priceless. They so beautifully stood amongst the falling leaves and held eachother close. It’s like God created the backdrop just for them, just for those moments.
Taylor’s grandmother did a beautiful job orchestrating the ceremony. The peacefulness of the leaves and the breeze through the trees reflected Katie & Taylor’s amazing love.
It was an INCREDIBLE honor to be asked to document my beautiful cousin’s wedding. I am so thankful for this awesome girl in my life. She is an amazing example of grace, effortless love and loyalty. I adore her and am SO happy to see her full of so much joy. Here’s to all the forever’s to come!
Some of Katie & Taylor’s memories from the day:
Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding?
A. All of it. There isn’t anything I could favor over another because every part lead up to the whole beauty of the day. Spending time with my Mom all morning, getting to enjoy a first look, exchanging personal vows, dancing with my Dad and having a blast the whole reception. It was all my favorite.
Q. What was one quirky or crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
A. We were getting into position for the first look and three venue coordinators started walking up to us, “you look beautiful. Now we have small to medium bad news. We have no electricity.” They explained a beautiful candle lit dinner to me and everything lit by candles. It was off for 2 hours and we still had 2 more to go – long story short we were good and it came back on!
Q. What was the most special moment on your wedding day?
A. I’m sure Taylor and I can agree it was very sweet to watch both sets of parents adding their sand to the vase. We did a sand ceremony and the parents participated at the beginning of the ceremony and we sealed it with our sand at the end. Personally when my parents added their sand, I lost it – chest heaving and all.
Q. Did you do anything yourself?
A. My Mother hand made my gown and garter. The invitations, programs, centerpieces, cake pilars, cake base, guestbook, table numbers, gift boxes and gifts were all hand made. Every detail was collected and created by my Mother, everything.
Q. Any special elements you would like to talk about?
A. I wanted my wedding to be extremely special to me. I made it a point to research wedding traditions and why we do the things we do. I ordered a sixpence for my shoe, with my Grandmother’s birth year to bring me good luck. I wore my Mother’s wedding ring she wore for the first 20 years of their marriage (until she upgraded) it was my something borrowed so their 30 years of marriage would bring good luck to ours. I had my Grandmother’s clip on earrings decorating my bouquet so she could keep me company in spirit.
Q. Q. What do you look forward to most about being married?
A. Taylor and I did things backwards and had been living together for over two years and we just purchased our first home in February. We had long one year and nine month engagement period. Since we first started dating; being married is all we had ever wanted. We’re just happy to finally be able to call each other husband and wife and wear our beautiful rings. We will always look forward to a baby but that is years down the road. So in the mean time we’re just so excited for all this time we get to spend together, just us and to start traveling!
Q. Where do you hope you will you be as a couple in five years?
A. In five years both of our businesses (my photography & Taylor’s nutrition) will be in full swing. Which will then allow us to enjoy each other and travel, travel, travel! In SIX years, we will try for a baby!
