Haley
Haley was a vision in her custom Redondo Brand gown! From the moment I met Haley in Chicago for her and Nicky’s engagement session, I loved her modern style, and her wedding style did NOT disappoint.
These modern bridal photos turned out absolutely beautifully, and it was easy to capture them thanks to Haley’s fun personality!
Modern Bridal Photos at The Creative Chateau
Haley’s planner, Natalie Laskowski of Kiran + Leigh, scheduled the bridal session for us at one of my favorite portrait venues in Houston, The Creative Chateau.
Since Haley was finishing up school and coming in from Chicago for the wedding, we ended up squeezing her bridal photos in a few days after Christmas, just in time for their epic New Year’s Eve wedding.
The Creative Chateau is a French-themed portrait studio with multiple rooms to choose from, and the natural light and minimal decor lend themselves perfectly to any bridal style. Haley’s gorgeous off-shoulder long sleeve gown had a wonderfully full tulle skirt that I had so much fun doing movement shots with, and her red shoes were a delightful surprise!
Bridal Photoshoot Timing
I get the question a lot of when a bride should plan to do her portrait session, and the answer depends on several factors.
First and foremost, the dress! We have to wait until the gown is at least mostly finished being altered. Most people (brides and seamstresses alike) prefer to wait until it is completely done, but that’s not a requirement.
Second, it depends on whether or not you would like to display a portrait on the wedding day! If you do want to, then the best rule of thumb is to do the session at least one month before the wedding to allow time for editing, ordering, delivery and framing. However, I have definitely worked with some of our brides to get a quicker turnaround on the photos and rush shipping for delivery, when schedules just didn’t allow for shooting 1 month out.
If, as in Haley’s case, this isn’t something you’re concerned with, then there’s a lot more wiggle room! We can do the session a few days before the wedding, or I’ve even done some with brides AFTER their weddings (so much fun to put that dress on again)!
So, if you know you want a bridal portrait to display at your wedding but your dress timeline is tight, I recommend working with your planner, seamstress, and photographer to see what can be done. If it just needs some finishing touches, you may be able to have it for the day to do the session, and then return it for final adjustments (but just keep in mind you may end up having to having it cleaned).
My team and I are always so happy to work with our sweet brides on whatever schedule they need – this session should be nothing but fun and stress-free! Reach out today if you’d like to talk about working with us for yours!
