Carter & Kyle
Carter and Kyle’s March wedding at the Houston Country Club was a stunning day from start to finish with so many meaningful and intentional details. Kirnan + Leigh and Blooming Gallery brought the couple’s vision to life by transforming the reception space at the Houston Country Club into a bright, spring garden with flowing greenery and vibrant pink florals.
Houston Country Club Wedding
The morning of the wedding the couple got ready with their wedding party at the home of Carter’s parents. Getting ready at her parent’s house was an intentional choice to start the day off with a relaxed feel. Carter and her bridesmaids played mahjong, sipped on Rose, and were constantly laughing while hanging out. Meanwhile, Kyle and his groomsmen enjoyed breakfast tacos and watched college basketball until it was time to get suited up.
Carter’s Oscar de La Renta dress was the first dress she was drawn to at the bridal store, but was the last dress she tried on. After trying it on, she couldn’t stop thinking about it and bought it the next day! Susie’s Cakes replicated the applique design on Carter’s dress onto their wedding cake too!
Before the ceremony, Carter and Kyle did a first look together outside at the country club. Seeing his bride was one of Kyle’s favorite parts of the wedding day and made him ready for the night ahead! Next, they had a beautiful ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. This is where Carter’s parents got married and where she grew up going to church.
Wedding Reception at the Houston Country Club
Carter and Kyle dreamed of a reception space that was warm and welcoming with the happiness of spring colors. They enhanced the classic decor of the Houston Country Club by creating a modern garden feel using beautiful pinks, blues, and lots of greenery. Various sizes of blue and white ginger jars held bouquets of bright pink flowers and pieces of purple blooms. Candles throughout the tables and space create a cozy, ambient glow.
Walking into the ballroom at the Houston Country Club felt like walking into a spring garden upon seeing the columns wrapped in greenery and the pink flowers everywhere. The columns led to the X-shaped ceiling installation of greenery hanging over the dance floor. This filled the room to create the garden look and gave the dance floor a more intimate atmosphere.
When Carter and Kyle first started dating they listened to Leon Bridge’s on repeat, so they chose Bridges’ “Coming Home” for their first dance song. They ate, toasted, danced, and enjoyed time with their friends and family. Carter says, seeing all their favorite people having a good time in one place was one of the many highlights of their wedding.
As their wedding guests were clearing out for the exit, they ate the late-night snacks on the lounge furniture, drank brandy freezes, and Kyle took off Carter’s shoes. Then they happily went out on the empty dance floor to share a final dance. Beneath a shower of rose petals, they made their way to a black 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Their getaway car is Carter’s dad’s car and was a special ending to their wedding. Looking back, their time together before the exit was one of their favorite parts of the night!
Carter and Kyle are such a fabulous and joyful couple. I loved every moment with them on their wedding day!
